Business Centre
Background - H2 2022
GrabforBusiness, a segment of Grab, began its journey a bit later than other sections. Initially steered by business and product ops with limited tech backing, its significance was amplified during the Covid pandemic. As companies sought innovative engagement methods, GrabforBusiness emerged as a consistent revenue stream and was officially integrated into the product team.
However, the product faced challenges: much of its design and code is legacy and hasn't been regularly updated. Before delving deeper, it's essential to recognize the primary stakeholders of the GrabforBusiness team:
Client Companies
Employees
Company Administrators
Operations
Challenge
Today, our spotlight is on employees. We serve two distinct groups: those associated with Grab through client companies like Goldman Sachs, we will refer to them as GrabforBusiness users. Another group from firms not affiliated with GrabforBusiness. For clarity, we'll refer to this group as 'Business Profile' users.
The first group primarily aims to maximize their allowance policies. In contrast, the Business Profile users are driven to track and reconcile their past business transactions.
How might we design a solution that enables GrabforBusiness users to effectively maximize their allowance policies, and empowers Business Profile users to efficiently track and reconcile their past business transactions?
Role + Process
My role began as a workshop facilitator. We did a deep dive into the employee experience and uncovered a slew of problems and gaps. After generating a vast array of ideas during the workshop, the PM, EM, and I undertook a prioritization exercise to determine our next step forward.
With ongoing adjustments to the GrabforBusiness employee sign-up funnel, we aim to address the following issues. (see last image)

The In-App Business Centre has been thoughtfully designed to enhance the experience for all types of employees. With an emphasis on 'Company Policy Transparency', it provides transparent policy details, helping GFB employees fully utilize their company allowances. The 'Self-Serve Registration' feature streamlines the onboarding process, allowing GFB employees to send invitation emails directly from the app, reducing the need to connect with administrators offline or sift through numerous work emails. Moreover, the 'Business Spending Management' function offers a centralized location in the app for all business-related bookings. This systematic approach benefits both GFB employees users and Business Profile users by facilitating easy tracking and management of statements and receipts.
